Me

EDIT: I re-read this in 2015 and cringed a lot. I would like to believe I did not write this in 2013. But, I'm going to keep it anyway.

I am Tarini, a student at Colby College. Colby is a liberal arts college in Waterville, Maine, USA. I love the sciences and mathematics, along with language. And don't ask me to pick and choose- I love all of them in equal measure! I enjoy reading, like writing and love asking questions.

The idea for this blog has quite a story behind it. I applied to MIT for the Fall 2013 application cycle. During the entire application process, I stalked the MIT Admissions blogs; a series of blogs by students and admission officers alike. During the course of about six months, these blogs became a must. I read just about every archived article. I turned to the blogs for everything: help, humour, ideas, and inspiration. A few of those students bloggers have become role models, and I simply admire their admission officers. I very typically imagined becoming a blogger for these blogs myself. Small hitch: I was rejected by MIT.

Nonetheless, I decided to start a blog. No hard feelings, no regrets. A pleasant application process and probably some gained wisdom. Sense And Simplicity is going to be a platform where I'll put up my writing for anyone who happens to come across this and read it. This blog has quite a few plans centered around it but a few ground rules:
  • Usage of the word 'awesome' is banned.
  • Grammatical errors and typos are abhorred. Corrections are ALWAYS welcome.
  • And most importantly, this shall never turn into a daily log. It will include what I do. But not what I do everyday and every minute.
My favourite collection of words:

Sense and simplicity. (That was obvious!)
Honesty and humour.
Pleasure and purpose.
Happiness and hope.
(Yes, alliteration is a personal favourite!)
